MR Industrial Services specialise in the design, fabrication and installation of structural and architectural steel, engineering and specialist pipework. With a UK-wide client base, they’re one of the UK’s largest secondary and architectural steel suppliers.

“With the cost of energy going up regularly, we were often changing suppliers to maintain a cost efficiency against our utility bills. We made the decision to go solar, and as part of our ESG objectives, wanted a local company to handle the install. That’s how we discovered Plug me in.”

Installation Details

Plug me in delivered a 40 kWp solar PV system capable of generating 43,000 kWh a year. It also saves 9.1 tonnes of CO2 per annum – over the lifetime of the system, that’s the equivalent of planting 2,730 tree seedlings.

Speaking of the end-to-end process, Michael said:

In particular, the knowledge supplied to me to support our REGO [Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin] application was invaluable.”

Financial and Environmental Impact

Since installation, the new solar PV system has demonstrated its worth in cutting costs, reducing carbon emissions and supporting MR Industrial’s sustainability aims.

“We’re very happy with our solar system which is already reducing energy costs and proving to have a quick payback. It fits in with our ESG objectives and will be a great help when tendering for green projects as it shows a clear reduction in our carbon footprint.”

Looking Ahead

MR Industrial are already using electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and their other electrical supply comes from renewable sources. If more space is added to their site, further renewable upgrades like solar battery storage could be considered.
