Project overview
Display Mode is a Corby-based company creating specialist displays for brands and retailers, including visual merchandising, point-of-sale and retail fixtures.
To reduce their carbon output and save on their energy bills, Display Mode began looking at alternative ways of powering their busy manufacturing site – and spoke toPlug me in regarding a solar PV solution.
General Manager Danny Coyle said:
“We had an energy survey on the building to better understand our consumption and identify ways to make savings – our bills were high and we also wanted to futureproof the site for expansion further down the line.
“It was important to us that we used someone close by to help promote local relationships and allow easy site visits. So we spoke with Plug me in, who provided great all-round information and answered all our questions.”
Installation details
Plug me in delivered an 80.2 kWp solar PV system, powerful enough to generate 68,989 kWh a year and significantly reduce Display Mode’s energy bills and dependence on the Grid.
The system slashes their carbon emissions by 14.6 tonnes a year – over the system’s lifetime, that’s the same as planting 4,380 trees.
Danny told us:
“The installation was slick and straightforward. Everything went as expected and the team at Plug me in were great – the installers and the project managers.”
Financial and environmental impact
Display Mode’s new solar system is already having a powerful impact on their operations, reducing their carbon emissions and saving money that can instead be spent on expanding the site and their service offering.
With upgrades already made to the building’s lighting as well as their electrical distribution boards, this is a huge next step in their sustainability journey – making them a greener business with a smaller carbon footprint.
Speaking of the system’s performance since installation, Danny says:
“Our energy bills have reduced significantly with solar power covering everything on lower usage days, and throughout the summer we’ve pumped lots of electricity back into the Grid. It feels great to have further green upgrades on site – taking us further into the future and assuring our staff and our clients that we’re serious about sustainability.”
Looking ahead
With their solar PV system in place, Display Mode can consider further smart tech upgrades in future – such as solar battery storage – for even greater energy independence.
Plug me in are proud to have supported this local manufacturer with a smart, high-impact system that brings great results through clean power and a significant reduction to their energy costs.
