Powering innovation with clean energy in Cambridge

Overview

Fulbourne Road Technology Park in Cambridge comprises a mix of commercial high-tech and research and development premises, with laboratory and office workspaces for the area’s diverse range of occupiers.

To help meet the Park’s energy performance targets and ensure it maintains the highest sustainability standards, installing a solar PV system was an obvious choice.

And having worked with Plug me in before, Andrew Potter, Co-Owner and Managing Director of Hilton Cannon who led the development of the project, knew exactly who to call:

“Plug me in’s technical support and expertise were perfect for this type of commercial project. From initial outline and concept to production of detailed drawings and technical details, the process was always timely and accurate.”

Installation Details

Plug me in installed a 243 kWp solar PV system made up of 580 solar panels – a system powerful enough to generate 202,302 kWh and reduce the Park’s CO2 emissions by 39.2 tonnes a year. Across the system’s lifetime, this equates to removing 166 petrol-powered vehicles from the road.

Speaking of the end-to-end process, Andrew said:

“The service we receive from Plug me in has always been very professional – from initial contact, through design and approval, to installation and commissioning on site. The installation team are very skilled and we felt well supported through the entire phase of work.”

Financial and Environmental Impact

Since installation, the system has already performed as expected, hitting generation targets and successfully reducing the Park’s carbon emissions.

Plug me were delighted to support the development of the Park with a high-tech solar PV system that brings real operational and environmental impact – matching the progressive, forward-thinking nature of the Park and its occupants.
