FAQs
How much could commercial solar panel installation save for my business?
Investing in solar panels alongside battery storage can lead to significant savings, particularly for energy-hungry businesses. Our commercial solar energy systems have saved our clients £10.9m each year on average by cutting down energy costs through energy generated and stored through our battery systems. We also offer lifetime asset management to ensure that savings continue for years after solar panel installation.
How much do commercial solar panels cost in the UK?
As standard, a fully installed UK commercial solar panel system costs between £650 and £1200 per kilowatt-peak (kWp). However, this can vary depending on the size and scale of the system - larger setups with more panels (such as for large warehouses or retail parks) may cost significantly more.
What is the typical payback period for a solar panel system?
The payback period for our commercial clients is an average of 3 to 4 years. We can support you through your payback period with our funding and finance options, making your investment more manageable for the long-run.
Do I need planning permission for commercial solar systems?
Generally, you do not need to apply for planning permission from local authorities, as solar panels are classed as a “permitted development”. However, there are some exceptions. For example, if your home is classed as a listed building, is in a conservation area, or you live in a flat, then you will need to apply for planning permission or special consent.
Can I add battery storage or EV charging to my system later?
Absolutely. Our end-to-end service model covers everything from your initial survey and design through to long-term operations and maintenance, including adding battery storage and EV charging to your commercial property at a later date. They are a great way to power up your team and daily operations.
What is a DNO application and how long does it take?
A DNO application is a request that we, as your solar panel installer, will submit to your local electricity network operator asking for permission to connect your new solar panel system to the grid. It can take up to 8 weeks for approval, depending on the size and scale of your new system setup.
