Exemplar Health Care needed a reliable, future-ready EV charging solution for their sites in Sheffield, Birmingham and Walsall.

 

Plug me in installed three new charge points and a back-office app to manage the new network, helping the Exemplar team travel stress-free and sustainably.

 

Exemplar Health Care is one of the UK’s leading nursing care providers for adults living with complex and high acuity needs, operating more than 55 complex care services across England.

 

Exemplar were retrofitting two of their care home car parks with EV chargers for staff who regularly travel long distances. They also needed a charger at their brand-new Sheffield head office to meet building regulations and support greener commutes.

 

The right partner to deliver

 

After a difficult experience with previous providers, Exemplar were introduced to Plug me in through our partners at Octopus Electric Vehicles. They were looking for a trusted supplier who would take the time to understand their needs and deliver the right solution.

 

As Jon Kerr, Senior Digital Project Manager at Exemplar, explained:

 

“We had EV charging points installed at some of our care homes in the past but sadly they proved unreliable – plus we had no platform in place to charge for the electricity being used. We needed to find a solution that would not only be reliable but would be able to cater to our niche organisation.”

 

We conducted comprehensive site surveys and recommended the Zaptec AC charger solution, tailored to each location based on building supply capacity, driver behaviour and average dwell time.

 

This was complemented by an intuitive, user-friendly back-end platform, giving Exemplar full control over charging access, usage monitoring and cost recovery – smart software being a key part of our Plug me in Go fleet proposition for depots and workplaces.

 

From planning and installation through to post-install support, we provided a clear, step-by-step roadmap to ensure a smooth and seamless installation for Exemplar.

 

A quality install with care and precision

 

While most of the installation ran smoothly, there were two small hiccups: a DNO approval delay and a potential Wi-Fi connection issue. Our team acted quickly to resolve both, including onsite tweaks at no extra cost.
